About Us
Independent Custom Realty LLP is a boutique real estate firm focused on meeting the needs of buyers and sellers in the Center City and suburban real estate markets through its commitment to exercising a customer-centric approach. The impetus for ICR can be traced to the disappointing real estate experiences that its owner, Peter Bishop, endured as a consumer while he was active in acquiring real estate for development in Philadelphia.
Peter initially obtained his real estate license to ensure that he, and like minded real estate consumers, would be satisfactorily represented in their real estate transactions. After working for a national real estate brokerage, he was afforded the opportunity in 2007 to purchase a commercial building at 16th and Lombard Streets in Center City, open ICR, and begin offering the highest level of representation, along with the transparency and accountability that he sought as a consumer. Now located at Two Logan Square, ICR has multiple real estate professionals working alongside Peter to provide the very best service to those in need of buyers’, sellers’ or property management representation.

-
Peter Bishop
Upon returning to his Philadelphia roots in 1995, Peter got into real estate at the ground level by performing property inspections throughout Philadelphia and its suburbs. He then progressed to performing more complex appraisals and capitalizing on his existing knowledge of construction to form Thoroughbuilt LLP, a contracting concern that built and renovated homes in Philadelphia and at the Jersey shore. At that time Peter was also utilizing his building experience and knowledge of the Philadelphia housing market to become active in acquiring investment properties in the City, including one that would become ICR’s longtime office at 16th and Lombard Streets. After honing his craft at a national real estate firm, Peter opened ICR to provide consumers with a brokerage option that is client-centered rather than purely profit driven. In addition to holding a real estate broker’s license, Peter is also a certified residential real estate appraiser. He has lived in Center City since 1998 when he and his wife purchased a home in the Rittenhouse neighborhood.
